The Sum of Failures
A white sigma over green, an orange Fail tagged beneath it, and a column of missed timings added up like a ledger — the sum as gratitude, not score.
A sigma, drawn as a single fat white stroke, sits on a slab of green like the heading of an equation. Under it the word Fail is tagged in orange, outlined in black, large enough to be the answer the symbol is adding up. Down the right edge a list of timings gone wrong — too fast, too soon, the recipe, the distance, the situation — and up the left, rotated, the only line that is not an item in the sum.
But now I have learned to embrace my failures. I am thankful.
The arithmetic is the title’s joke and its method: every miss is written out, then totalled into a sign that does not apologise for them. The green holds. The failures stay visible. The thanks is written sideways, as if it had to be fitted in after the list was already full.
